If your required remittance due date falls on a holiday or weekend, it is due the next business day.  Government agencies recognize the date of process as the payment date.

If you do on-line banking, make sure that you confirm your payment.  The government will penalize for late payments regardless of your intent.

Annual statutory holidays.  Currently there are eight statutory holidays:

• New Year's Day
• Family Day
• Good Friday
• Victoria Day
• Canada Day
• Labour Day
• Thanksgiving Day
• Christmas Day
• Boxing Day

The first Monday in August is not a statutory holiday. Nor is Easter Monday. If your business remains closed on that day, you are not obligated to pay statutory holiday pay.
